Coming from a family of 19th century homesteaders, Alex Balazs embodies the principles of hard work, community values, and servant leadership that all of us North Dakotans share. So, when the call to serve echoes through the Great Plains of the Peace Garden State, Alex always replies, “Send me."
Alex first served our country in the Air Force and Navy as a global Survivor Instructor (S.E.R.E.), where he used his skills as an outdoorsman to train our sons and daughters in the military to survive in the harsh elements and high-risk situations they find themselves in protecting democracy around the world.
Flash forward to today, and Alex has spent five decades serving our nation. From a Senior Foreign Service Officer for the U.S. Department of State to an Advisor for the U.S. Government, Alex has worked alongside U.S. Ambassadors in foreign political relations, prepared governments against violent extremists, and was responsible for the development and implementation of critical government programs around the globe. From Northern Europe to the Middle East and South America to our own U.S. Southern Border, Alex’s experience and passion for service are truly unmatched.
Alex's Priorities
Defend Our God-Given Liberties and Freedoms
Our rights come from God, not government. America is strongest when we honor our Christian foundations and keep God first in our lives and our work. I will remain faithful to the truths our founders understood as essential to preserving this republic - including preserving the sanctity of life from conception to death. Every time our nation drifts from these principles, we grow weaker.
Peace Through Strength
A strong military is essential, but true strength also comes from service, sacrifice, and resilient communities. North Dakota’s energy and agriculture are pillars of national security, and they must be protected from foreign influence and ideological attacks. I support long-term policies that safeguard these industries so no administration or foreign power can weaken America’s strategic advantages. Peace through strength honors those who served before us, and I will not let them—or you—down.
Protect the Constitution and the Rule of Law
I have sworn multiple times to defend the Constitution, and I honor that oath every day. The rule of law is the foundation of a free society. We must stop the advance of socialism, confront foreign influence in our schools and institutions, and end policymaking by unelected bureaucrats who attempt to weaken our founding documents. The Constitution—not political agendas—must guide our government.
North Dakota and America First
America First means responsible budgets, American-made goods, and policies that put our nation’s interests first in every negotiation. When America leads, the world is safer and more prosperous. When America succeeds, North Dakota succeeds.
Limit Federal Government and Promote States’ Rights
The Constitution clearly limits federal power, yet Washington continues to overreach into areas reserved for the states. Private property and state sovereignty must be protected. I will follow the Constitution strictly and focus federal action only on the powers our founders enumerated. In those areas, taxpayers deserve the strongest return for every dollar.
Foreign ownership of American land is a growing national security threat. I support the immediate re-acquisition of land owned by foreign entities. If supported by the State, I will introduce federal legislation to help states reclaim foreign-owned land and protect their sovereign territory. No other nation allows foreign ownership of its land. When foreign interests control land—or industries critical to national security—it can rise to the level of a clear and present danger to the United States.
Shall Not Be Infringed
The Second Amendment is absolute. We either have the freedom to bear arms, or we do not. Any attempt to limit this right is an attack on all our freedoms. I served to protect this right, and I will continue to defend it without hesitation.
North Dakota, We Are Counting On You!
The United States is the last bastion of freedom on Earth. If our Conservative elected fail in D.C., there's no place else for us to go. No matter how small the contribution, Alex needs your help.
